【Vauldex Team Interview】Meet our Ishiuchi(PM/PO): Leveraging Diversity and Clear Prioritization to Drive Product Success

My Roots: How a Diverse Environment Shaped My Collaborative Leadership

Currently serving as a Product Owner and Project Manager.

Studying at a university in Malaysia was a defining chapter for me, exposing me to a rich tapestry of cultural values and working styles. Discovering the thrill of collaborating with people of diverse perspectives to solve real-world problems through technology is exactly what led me to my career today.

During my time as a Computer Science major, I also interned at an IT firm in India, where I managed accounts for Japanese clients. I quickly realized that regardless of the country or culture, the core expectation never changes: the ability to structure complex problems and solve them as a cohesive team. That realization remains the anchor of my professional identity.

My Work: Defining Product Direction and Steering the Team

Today, I oversee the development of medical appointment management systems, test-result visualization platforms, and time-and-attendance/payroll software. I’m deeply involved in the entire lifecycle—from requirements definition to shipping—ensuring we deliver an intuitive, secure, and seamless user experience.

Our squad consists of six members: four engineers, one Scrum Master, and myself as the Product Owner. Working hand-in-hand with our development team in the Philippines, we sync every morning in our Daily Standup to flag blockers and track progress. As the PO, my primary mission is to ruthlessly prioritize features, manage the product backlog, and ensure the entire team is aligned and moving toward the same North Star. To keep our workflows lean and efficient, we actively leverage Microsoft Teams, Slack, GitHub, and ChatGPT to synthesize and share information.

Lessons Learned: Navigating the Learning Curve of Ruthless Prioritization

When I first joined Vauldex, my biggest hurdle was figuring out how to break down massive epics into granular tasks and determine the optimal sequence of execution. Looking at the big picture while making high-stakes prioritization decisions was challenging, but I slowly developed an intuitive grasp through hands-on experience.

With mentorship from my manager, I learned practical frameworks for slicing tasks and defining acceptance criteria, putting them into action directly within Jira and GitHub. I’ll never forget the first time the requirements I structured were implemented by the dev team, and a engineer told me, "This makes it so much easier to build." That was a massive milestone for me.

Our Culture: A Forward-Thinking Team Grounded in Radical Respect

Our team culture is built on a flat hierarchy where anyone can voice their opinions without friction. New ideas and optimization proposals are always welcomed with open minds, fostering a space for healthy, constructive debate. Whenever a roadblock appears, the entire team naturally shifts into a solution-oriented mindset: "How do we make this better?"

Furthermore, collaborating daily with our engineers in the Philippines has deeply sharpened my cross-cultural empathy and management skills. By maintaining radical transparency and sharing information openly on Slack and GitHub, we maintain a strong sense of unity despite working remotely. Being part of this ecosystem hasn’t just leveled up my technical acumen; it has fundamentally forged my ability to collaborate at a global scale.

The Vision: Learning by Doing to Drive Impactful Deliveries

Throughout these projects, I’ve experienced that magical moment where theoretical knowledge transforms into actionable, real-world skill. From ownership of task management to making final calls on user stories, my sense of accountability as a team leader has grown exponentially.

When you spot a gap, you don't wait—you take immediate action. That bias for action and autonomy is where I’ve seen my greatest personal growth since joining the company. Moving forward, my goal is to lead even larger-scale enterprise developments as a Project Manager, co-creating new value alongside my team.

We don’t just "build" software; we co-create value with our stakeholders, which makes this role incredibly rewarding.

At Vauldex, you will find an environment that actually empowers you to pitch ideas and see them come to life. It’s a place where you can embrace daily iteration and grow alongside a world-class team.
